Hey my beloved readers!
In fact, you are in number the amount of girlfriends I have! Today was a filoxeo day. Woke up in the morning and going to dexma offices (Oh My God I really Love my 22″ Screen), but to be sincerely, Today I was not prepared to work. I feld a little bit foggy and at the end it has been an almost improductive way.
We fixed some errors and almost finished the signup and friends engine. We copied the way twitter enables users to register, and we reduced the amount of time needed to register in Filoxeo.
With Elies we planned how to implement the matching engine. After half an hour, we decided to start with a really simple engine, because we were facing something similar to next google.
Now it’s time to go to bed and relax, because tomorrow I have to work on other business. From here, regards to our golden alfa tester.

Yeah, I know that 9 months of silence is quite much. Anyway, Filoxeo is here at the end. There are some highlights about the just upcoming filoxeo.
- We said filoxeo was a complete rewrite of Xarxa3, in fact, xarxa3 was some kind of semanthical powered social network. We thought it was so complicated and hard, so we decided to focus on events!. We know facebook has a great event aplications, we know google calendar is awesome, but we think that this is an emmerging markets with too many words to be writted.
- It has beel completeley implemented in PHP, to speed up development (it has been programmed by two people on nights and weekends for 3 months) we used Cake 1.2 beta. I know to use a beta it is a little bit risky, but the opportunity was there, the moment is now and to wait some months for the release version to be available was less exciting. At the end we got no problems in using a snapshot version. Anyway, to be definitely launched, we may have to wait for the official Cake 1.2.
- It’s all about SMS. It’s all about simplicity. It’s all about Geolocation.
We hope to launch in one month, so be prepared to share your local experiences with just a mobile phone!

Hey guys!
Don’t crash the head with the table. The awesome filoxe team is working seriously. In fact, beer is becomming the perfect gasoline.
At the end we are developing with CakePHP, yes, I know, Python is Cool, Ruby is super and JSP are awesome. In fact, after 7 years programming in PHP I’m really enjoying to programm with Cake.
Anyway, I hope my code becomes better than my english!

Why youtube, google, joost, zoomla, zatoo, diggit, alexa, meneame, slashdot …?
It’s just a name, don’t try to find strange relations, except the X and E from Xavi and Elies.
We tried to use the web 2.0 name generator, but all the names had .com domain registered (and this was a really strong requirement). So, in the end, and no one knows how, we got filoxeo, lexically inspired in “filoxera”, the catalan word for the well known vineyard parasite.

Today we start filoxeo, a web 2.0 project about content, media, blogs, events, maps and relations between them. It’s not the first time we start a project. Secretariat, savemylada, xarxa3 are old projects with more or less success, in fact, filoxeo wants to be a complete rewriting and specification of Xarxa3. Then, your main question might be, which is the key of success of this project? What is your project about?
Here we have both answers:
- success key factors doesn’t exist, actually failure key factors exist (Fernando Trias de Bes)
- we don’t know, we have some streamlines, but it will be a really evolutive project.
So, welcome to our web 2.0 playground!
